Biography
Born in Iwate Prefecture as Nomura Osakazu. Dropped out of the Law Department of Tokyo Imperial University. He worked at the Hōchi Shimbun as a reporter and head of the cultural department. In 1931 he began the serialization of "The Zenigata Heiji Investigation Records" (Zenigata Heiji Torimono-hikae) in the magazine "All Yomimono", eventually producing 383 episodes of this beloved Edo-period detective series. He also published music criticism under the pen name "Araebisu".
